Point leader Rodney Kistler of Kempton, PA notched his second Keystone Legends Tour main event win of the 2007 season Saturday night at Five Mile Point Speedway. Kistler started eleventh, assumed the lead after ten laps after a series of problems struck the early leaders, and romped home the winner over teammate Tim Henry in another Randy Schaeffer fireball entry. Craig Rochelle finished a solid third over Roy Danner, and early pacesetter Mark Schaffer. Clinton Penkauskas, George Abt, Jim Black, Robyn Delabar, and Justin Grim completed the top ten. At the green Schaffer jumped into the lead from his outside front row starting spot over Justin Mulea, Black, Abt, and Jim Baker, who retired from the event on lap two with a broken spindle, handing the fifth spot to Danner. Schaffer retained his advantage through lap eight, leading Mulea, Abt, and teammates Kistler and Henry. On the ninth circuit Schaffer made contact in turn one with a lapped car and spun, handing the top spot to Mulea. On the restart both Mulea and Abt executed a tandem spin without contact off turn four leaving Kistler in control for the last half of the event. Kistler was perfect over the remaining laps, turning back the challenges of Henry, Rochelle, and Danner as Schaffer made an impressive charge from the back of the field to claim fifth at the checkers. Heat races were won by Baker and Schaffer. The Keystone Legends Tour returns to the asphalt at Mountain Speedway on Saturday night, June 2 nd. The next dirt program is scheduled for Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA on Friday, June 15 th. |
