Tim Henry of Orefield, PA is a dirt-tracker who enjoys the occasional asphalt challenge. He had Randy Schaffer’s #98 working to perfection Saturday night as he won the 20-lap Keystone Legends feature at Mountain Speedway in St. Johns, PA. Henry took the lead from early pacesetter Jim Baker on lap eight and withstood the challenges of Craig Rochelle and Todd McCollum to take his first Tour win of the season. Baker and Roy Danner posted strong top five finishes as point leader, Rodney Kistler, Long Island visitor Paul Dodorico, Mark Schaffer, George Abt, and Justin Mulea rounded out the top ten. The race was red-flagged on lap nine when a five car battle for the lead encountered the lapped car of Shawn Benzeleski and Jason Rochelle rode over a wheel and flipped violently into the frontstretch catch fence. Track starter, Chris Walk, narrowly avoided injury as Rochelle’s car smashed into the starter’s stand and vaulted over his head to land thirty feet further down the track. Fortunately, Jason Rochelle was also uninjured in the wild crash, but his brother, Paul’s #R3 was seriously damaged and Jason was forced to retire from the event. Benzeleski was sent off by Tour officials and will be suspended from competition at the next Tour race run. Heat races were won by Craig Rochelle and Henry. The Keystone Legends Tour returns to the dirt at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA on Friday, June 15 th. |
