Clinton Penkauskas of Alburtis, PA scored his first Keystone Legends Tour win of the 2007 season Friday night on the quarter mile dirt at Linda’s Speedway. Penkauskas started eighth, rode the inside groove past leader John Troyan on lap eight, and was perfect over the remaining dozen laps to post the win over Troyan, point leader Rodney Kistler, Ron Dunstan, and Craig Rochelle. Polesitter George Abt led the opening lap over Troyan, Mark Schaffer, Penkauskas, and Dunstan. Schaffer took second on lap two and pressured Abt for the lead, but contact between the leaders on lap seven sent Abt spinning into the infield off turn two. Abt reported to the rear on the restart and was joined by Schaffer, sent to the back by officials for his part in the incident. Troyer then led for a lap before giving way to Penkauskas. Penkauskas stretched his lead over the final laps, while Troyan turned in a masterful run, keeping last month’s winner, Kistler, at bay. Dunstan and Rochelle finished fourth and fifth as Tim Henry, Roy Danner, Robyn Delabar, Tim Bauer, and Justin Mulea rounded out the top ten. Heat races for the 22-car field were won by Abt, Troyan, and Schaffer. The Keystone Legends Tour remains on the dirt at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA on Friday, July 27 th. Saturday, August 4, is the final asphalt date for 2007 at Mountain Speedway in St. Johns, PA before returning to the quarter mile dirt at Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, NY on Saturday, August 11. |
