Kutztown, PA’s Tim Tomson won the 20-lap Keystone Legends Tour season opener Sunday afternoon at New Egypt Speedway after a race-long battle with Tim Henry and Stephen Nederostek. Asphalt specialist Steve Stull came home fourth in his first dirt track start and Josh Morrow rounded out the top five.

As starter Warren Alston unfurled the green, Tomson snatched the lead from his outside front row starting spot, leading Henry, Ricky Harring, Nederostek, and Jim Baker after the first tour. On lap three Nederostek wrestled second from Henry and Clinton Penkauskas moved into fourth ahead of Harring. By lap five Henry regained second and worked the inside groove to perfection to take command on lap eleven, but Tomson persisted with his outside line and Nederostek continued to apply pressure in third. On lap eighteen, Henry bobbled off turn four allowing Tomson to regain the lead with Nederostek advancing to second. Tomson was perfect over the final two laps and Henry recovered to take second from Nederostek as the white flag waived. Stull and Morrow followed the leaders home as Baker, Justin Grim, George Abt, Paul McCollum, and Todd McCullum completed the top ten.

Heat races for the 28-car field were won by defending Tour champion Rodney Kistler, Tomson, and Baker. Bruce Roslin won the “B” main to lead the final feature qualifiers.

The Keystone Legends Tour moves to the quarter mile dirt at Linda’s Speedway, Jonestown, PA on Friday night, April 18 th.
